Natural Remedies for Tiredness and Low Energy

A hectic pace of life, overwork, prolonged stress, illness and even the aging process can all lead to constant feelings of tiredness and lack of energy. A healthy diet, high in vitamins, especially A, C, E, and B complex, minerals such as iron, zinc, calcium and magnesium, and low in refined carbohydrates and sugars, will help boost energy. Alcohol and caffeine drinks are also best avoided and replaced with herb teas and fruit juices.

There are many different causes of tiredness and low energy, like eating the wrong food or drinking too much alcohol, lack of exercise and a cycle of too many busy hours with inadequate time to rest. Here are some natural remedies that may help you jump-start your day with a boost of energy.


Herbal tea
The gentle action of an herbal infusion provides an uplifting way to start the day. In the morning, the fresh or dried leaves of lemon verbena make a cheering drink with a lively flavor to wake up the system. Peppermint also has a gently stimulating effect when taken first thing in the morning.

Revitalizing juice
If you have a juicer, make a fresh fruit juice to revitalize the system, its a good way to increase vitamin content in the diet.

Kiwi and stem ginger spritzer
A single kiwi fruit contains more than one day´s vitamin C requirement meanwhile ginger is a circulatory stimulant that will give your body a much needed boost.
All you need is: 2 kiwis, 1 piece preserved stem ginger, 1 tablespoon of syrup from the ginger jar.

Essential oils
Basil, black pepper, cardamom, pennyroyal, peppermint, pine and rosemary essential oils are re-energizing when used in an oil burner. Use them singly, or experiment with combinations of two.

Bath oil
To make invigorating bath oil, blend:
3 drops of essential oil of rosemary
2 drops of essential oil of camphor
5 drops of essential oil of peppermint
Add this blend to 30ml (2 tablespoons) almond oil and keep in a stoppered bottle and add 8-10 drops to the water when running a bath.
