Treat Hemorrhoids (Piles) Naturally

Hemorrhoids, which are also commonly known as piles, are enlarged and swollen blood vessels in or around the lower rectum and anus. They are caused by increased pressure on the blood vessels in the area, as a result of being overweight, lifting heavy objects, pregnancy, constipation, prolonged diarrhea, or simply aging.
The symptoms may include bleeding when passing stools, an itchy feeling around the anus, intense pain, particularly when passing a stool, bright red bleeding after passing a stool, discharge of mucus when passing a stool, straining and feeling as though bowels are still full after a movement.

Include plenty of fiber in your diet to make sure that bowel movements are efficient and reduce strain. For prevention you can also avoid lifting heavy items and try to maintain a healthy weight. Drink plenty of water to keep stools soft as well.

Treat Hemorrhoids Naturally
If you are already victim of this disease, you can choose from a number of over-the-counter preparations that act as anti-inflammatories and help to reduce pain and itching.

Witch hazel or lemon juice can be applied to hemorrhoids to reduce swelling and bleeding, you can also try aromatherapy.

A warm bath with 10 drops of bergamot will help to reduce pain and act as an antiseptic. Myrrh oil is cooling and anti-inflammatory, use in the same way.

Increase the intake of bioflavonoids, which stabilize and strengthen blood vessel walls and decrease inflammation. They have been found to reduce anal discomfort, pain, and discharge during an acute attack of hemorrhoids. Boost your intake of bioflavonoids by eating more citrus fruit, grapes, berries, and whole grains.

For immediate relief, apply some ice, never directly to the skin but wrapped in a towel, for a local anesthetic effect. This helps to relieve the irritation as well as the pain.
