Are You Addicted to Marijuana?

In recent years, marijuana use has become more and more socially acceptable due to the legalization of marijuana for both medical and recreational purposes in some parts of the United States. Even while marijuana usage may be more socially acceptable than it has been in decades, habitual use of marijuana often still leads to an addiction that can decrease your quality of life. While marijuana may not be as physically addictive as other illicit drugs, those who develop an addiction to marijuana still suffer from negative consequences because of using the drug. For most who use marijuana, it can be very difficult to identify when marijuana usage develops into an addiction. Following are the five most common signs of Marijuana addiction.

1. You crave marijuana.
Perhaps the most obvious sign of a marijuana addiction is the constant craving of marijuana when you are not using the substance. You may find yourself fixated on how you will acquire marijuana next or when you will be able to use the substance next. You may begin to plan your life and your day around "marijuana breaks." Quite often, you will find yourself longing for the next time which you can escape from your responsibilities and use marijuana.

2. Marijuana interferes with your everyday life.

Because of the insistent cravings, you may eventually come to neglect your other responsibilities so to engage in marijuana usage. You may call off of work, miss your children's activities, or neglect your studies because you are using too much of your time getting high on marijuana. One common side effect of chronic marijuana usage is apathy and lack of motivation, which can interfere with your ability to perform well at work and to take care of your responsibilities within your family and home life. Your marijuana usage may cause a strain on your personal relationships as your loved ones compete with marijuana for your time and attention.

3. Your tolerance has increased.

With continued marijuana usage, eventually you will begin to need more and more of the substance in order to achieve the same physical high you felt using smaller dosages in the past. This phenomenon is called tolerance building, and it is the most common physical sign of addiction. When perhaps only one or two marijuana cigarettes may have been necessary to achieve the desired high in the past, you may now require three or four marijuana cigarettes to achieve the same level of high you achieved previously.

4. Marijuana Withdrawal

Another important physical sign of marijuana addiction is experiencing withdrawal when "coming down" from a marijuana high or when abstaining from marijuana usage. Common withdrawal symptoms include increased irritability, difficulty sleeping, headaches or body aches, and increased anxiety. For those who experience withdrawal, these uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms can often be enough to push them to use again. However, these withdrawal symptoms typically only last a few days and can be overcome with the right supports.

5. Inability to Stop Using

Finally, another marked sign of marijuana addiction is the inability to abstain from marijuana usage. Perhaps you have learned you may be subjected to a drug screen or you wish to stop to save money, but you find yourself struggling to quit despite a great desire to do so. If you are suffering from a marijuana addiction, you may find it extremely difficult to quit using the substance even if you are highly motivated to stop or significantly reduce your marijuana usage.

Are You Addicted to Marijuana?

If you are questioning whether or not you or a loved one you know has a marijuana addiction, ask yourself the following questions: Are you consistently craving marijuana? Does your usage of marijuana control important parts of your life and interfere with your ability to meet your responsibilities? Do you feel like you need more and more marijuana each time you use? Do you experience increased irritability, trouble sleeping or other withdrawal symptoms when you are not using marijuana? Are you not able to stop using even though you strongly desire to stop? If you answer yes to any or all of these, it is likely that you are suffering from a marijuana addiction and should seek professional treatment for your addiction.

Fake Phentermine Pills Spreading All Over The Web!

Phentermine 37.5mg is the amazing weight loss supplement that naturally suppresses the appetite to promote smaller waistlines. It is not inherently dangerous and features the typical side effects synonymous with stimulants. Whether these side effects, such as dry mouth and mild insomnia, occur depends greatly on the individual’s constitution and how he or she reacts to the miracle weight loss drug. Yet Phentramine, the faux Phentermine alternative, is tricking people into thinking the real thing is harmful.

Understanding The Difference
Understanding the difference between Phentermine and Phentramine is the first step in making the right choice for your weight loss needs. Phentermine features one active ingredient--phentermine hydrochloride--and comes in 30, 37.5, and 15 mg forms. The pill works by stimulating the the hypothalamus gland and assorted neurotransmitters so you feel less hungry. This causes the stomach to naturally shrink and remain shrunken assuming you continue to follow a healthy diet and exercise schedule.

Phentermine is not meant as an alternative to working out and a healthy diet, rather it is a supplement used in conjunction with exercise and smart food choices to help you lose weight. A doctor’s consultation is required before you can begin a Phentermine regimen to ensure you are a viable candidate.

Phentramine features Phenylethylamine HCL, methylphenethylamine, and methyl synephrine. It supposedly burns fat in addition to suppressing the appetite, and unlike Phentermine does not require a doctor’s consultation or prescription to purchase. It is available for purchase over the internet in all 50 states. Side effects include irregular or rapid heartbeat, panic, delirium, psychosis, and heart failure. Many people who take this dangerous drug consider it a blanket weight loss solution instead of a supplement that is part of a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

The stimulant combination featured in Phentramine is what makes it dangerous, as there is no proof at this time that mixing these ingredients is a safe, effective way to lose weight. Each ingredient features side effects, so combining them in one pill can have disastrous results.

What Users Say
Phentramine users across the web have mentioned a variety of unpleasant side effects, including the following from DietsinReview.com:

“It made me spacey, gave me alternating mood swings.”

“These pills will mess with your metabolism and ultimately you will probably gain it all back.”

“Hated the way it made me feel.”

“Blood pressure kept dropping and dropping, which made me feel tired.”

“Normally, I would be giving a thumbs up because I have a very high tolerance for diet pills and never feel anything but I took one pill this morning and here it is 4 hours later and I am really jittery which is what I usually like because it makes me feel like it's working but I'm very nervous because I'm so jittery that I am worried something is going to happen to me like a heart attack or something. I won't be taking anymore of these.”

“Have been on Phentramine for a week with no results. Feeling scammed it isn`t working.”

“Having used Phentramine for 5 days in conjunction with 100MG Topiramate (Topamax) it proved totally useless - I totally agree with others who have commented regarding the deceptive nature behind the name. Using the name Phentramine 37.5 it is deceiving the people.”

“I know I should not take them at night but I couldn't wait so I took them last night and it had me up all night long and I couldn't fall asleep. I had uncontrollable shaking in my hands and I felt like I was full.”

Consumers from Viewpoints.com echo the above reviews:

“I tried these around the same time I tried Phentermine. These pills do not work. I tried them and had a horrible experience. My heart rate increased drastically. It felt like my heart would beat outside my chest some of the time. It was really scary. I have mild hypertension, but I did not think that the pills would affect that they way that they did. I did lose some weight, but I felt crazy some of the time when I was on these pills. The side effects were not worth the weight loss. Also, when I stopped taking these diet pills, I gained more weight back than when I lost. I also felt a little depressed after I stopped taking them. I had a true withdrawal feeling. It lasted for about four to five days before I started to feel normal again. I recommend that if you really want to try these pills to contact your doctor beforehand and get his/her medical insight before a diet or taking any diet medication. It is just safer to do that.”

“I wanted to lose weight and a friend of mine turned me onto Phentramine so I thought I would give it a try. Not only did it agitate me to no end, it ran my blood pressure up, caused my heart to race uncontrollably and pretty much made me extremely nervous to a point I shook so bad that I literally could drop a cup. I went and seen my physician immediately and he told me to stop taking it because Redux-Fen Fen does work but at a cost. They cause heart attacks and heart valve damage, not including severe anxiety. I had to make a decision whether to continue, I was paying for it online or to just stop.I decided to quit. Anything that could potentially kill me was not in the cards for me.”

“I had no success with this product at all. Plus, the side effects were uncomfortable. I experienced some rapid pulse, a very full bloated feeling which lasted for an extended period of time, as well as severe heartburn. I returned the product!”

As if all of the above stories weren’t bad enough, Phentramine generally does not come with a money-back guarantee.

16 Easy Ways to Get a Good Night’s Sleep That Work Every Time

16 Easy Ways to Get a Good Night’s Sleep That Work Every Time
Sometimes, you spend the whole day longing to go to sleep, but when the time comes you sit lying wide awake for hours. The stresses of every day life make this a very common problem for thousands of us.
If you’ve had this experience, try out some of the ideas below. Each one has been proven to help you get a perfect night’s sleep and leave you feeling fresh and energetic the next morning. Goodbye to tiredness!
  1. Eat food with magnesium in it. Research suggests magnesium plays a key role in our ability to sleep through the night. Try chowing on magnesium-rich foods such as pumpkin seeds, spinach, and Swiss chard. Or pop a ZMA supplement, another form of magnesium, about half an hour before bedtime.
  2. Take a power nap during the day. Ten to 30 minutes in the mid-afternoon is best to ensure a good night’s sleep. Any longer and we risk falling into deeper stages of sleep, which can leave us feeling groggy when we wake up.
  3. Use your bedroom only for sleep and relaxation. Reserve the bed for bedtime-only activities so the mind associates the bedroom with relaxation. Sleep and sex, yes. Work and bills, not so much.
  4. Keep your bedroom slightly cool. Between 15 and 23 degrees Celsius is ideal. A room with extreme temperatures leads to more frequent awakenings and lighter sleep.
  5. Take a hot shower or bath before bed. This can help the mind relax, while the rise and fall of body temperature induces sleepiness.
  6. Set a daily wake up time. Just like it’s best to go to bed at the same time every day, it’s a good idea to keep a consistent wakeup time — even on the weekends. Irregular bedtime and wake-up hours can lead to poor sleep patterns.
  7. Make up for lost sleep. Stayed up too late the past few nights? Tack on an extra hour tonight to repay sleep debt and get back on track.
  8. Don’t toss and turn. Can’t fall asleep? If you’ve been lying in bed awake for more than 20 minutes, get out of bed and try a relaxing activity like reading or listening to mellow music. Thinking about not sleeping will bring on even more anxiousness — it’s a vicious cycle.
  9. Check the medicine cabinet. Certain medications might be interfering with sleep. Think a prescription is the culprit to a sleepless night? Talk to a doctor about potential side effects and how to deal with them.
  10. Turn the alarm clock away from your face. Watching the time tick by can actually cause more stress and make it harder to fall asleep. Plus, artificial light from electronic gadgets can mess up our circadian rhythm, making our bodies think it’s time to stay up and party.
  11. Sniff some lavender. This scent can actually be an antidote to insomnia. Try burning lavender-scented candles or essential oils to ease into sleep.
  12. Try progressive muscle relaxation. Starting with the feet, tense the muscles. Hold for a count of five and then relax. Do this for every muscle group in the body, working up from the feet to the top of the head. A nightly meditation practice that involves focusing on the breath can also help prepare the body for sleep.
  13. Dim the light. Bright lighting, in particular the “blue light“ emitted by most electronic devices, might contribute to sleep disturbances. Tech-savvy insomniacs might want to check out the special glasses designed to block blue light and help us snooze through the night.
  14. Get some fresh air. Exposure to daylight helps regulate the body’s internal clock and with it, sleep timing. Getting some sunlight also keeps daytime fatigue at bay, leading to more sleepiness at bedtime.
  15. Drink something warm. While a glass of warm milk might not be medically proven to bring on sleep, the relaxation that comes with sipping on a mug of a ”comfort drink" like warm milk, hot chocolate, or tea can make those eyelids a bit heavier.
  16. Put a clove of garlic under your pillow. Yes, you’ve read correctly: garlic’s sulfur containing compounds and its strong aroma have a calming effect and can help your quality sleep. Its aroma is strong and can be difficult; however, after a few days, you will get used to it and you will be sleeping so soundly, you won’t even notice it.

You Are Not Fat! Your Stomach Is Bloated And Here Is How To Get Rid Of It!

According to many people, bloating is excessive farting or bleaching as they feel full and their stomach is in the size of a ball. It is an issue which usually appears after a heavy meal, but there are some people who feel bloated all the time. The reasons for this issue to appear are the following:

You don’t drink enough water – many health problems appear due to the body not being hydrated enough. This is caused by coffee and alcohol and if you drink them a lot, you will have to consume 6-8 glasses of water as well. When our body is deprived of water, it starts using the liquids it can find, thus bloating may be caused due to fluid retention. For that reason you have to start drinking lots of water.

Constipation – once you feel better after you empty your bowels the main issue is constipation, meaning that you have to add fiber in your diet as the gasses are trapped behind the feces. Consume fiber gradually, not all once because it may worsen the problem. Use whole grain bread instead of white bread, drink a lot of smoothies and eat more berries.

You are too stressed – some studies say that bloating can be caused by too much stress as when the system is stressed the brain prevents the digestive system from functioning properly. Also, you may be bloated by constipation and stomach ache. Once you relieve the stress, you will solve the issue with bloating.

You eat too fast – when the food is being chewed, the body starts processing it more slowly and bloating may appear. Also, it is very significant to eat in small bites.

Carbs – the issue with bloating can appear due to eating too much carbs, but you may solve this problem by eating low-carb foods. Also, replace sugar and alcohol with vegetable and fruit.

45 best health tips ever - Follow and see the diffrence!

We've done the legwork for you and here they are: the 45 best health tips. Make that 46 - taking the time to read this tops the list.
1. Copy your kitty: Learn to do stretching exercises when you wake up. It boosts circulation and digestion, and eases back pain.

2. Don’t skip breakfast. Studies show that eating a proper breakfast is one of the most positive things you can do if you are trying to lose weight. Breakfast skippers tend to gain weight. A balanced breakfast includes fresh fruit or fruit juice, a high-fibre breakfast cereal, low-fat milk or yoghurt, wholewheat toast, and a boiled egg.

3. Brush up on hygiene. Many people don't know how to brush their teeth properly. Improper brushing can cause as much damage to the teeth and gums as not brushing at all. Lots of people don’t brush for long enough, don’t floss and don’t see a dentist regularly. Hold your toothbrush in the same way that would hold a pencil, and brush for at least two minutes.

This includes brushing the teeth, the junction of the teeth and gums, the tongue and the roof of the mouth. And you don't need a fancy, angled toothbrush – just a sturdy, soft-bristled one that you replace each month.

4. Neurobics for your mind. Get your brain fizzing with energy. American researchers coined the term ‘neurobics’ for tasks which activate the brain's own biochemical pathways and to bring new pathways online that can help to strengthen or preserve brain circuits.

Brush your teeth with your ‘other’ hand, take a new route to work or choose your clothes based on sense of touch rather than sight. People with mental agility tend to have lower rates of Alzheimer's disease and age-related mental decline.

5. Get what you give! Always giving and never taking? This is the short road to compassion fatigue. Give to yourself and receive from others, otherwise you’ll get to a point where you have nothing left to give. And hey, if you can’t receive from others, how can you expect them to receive from you?

6. Get spiritual. A study conducted by the formidably sober and scientific Harvard University found that patients who were prayed for recovered quicker than those who weren’t, even if they weren’t aware of the prayer.

7. Get smelly. Garlic, onions, spring onions and leeks all contain stuff that’s good for you. A study at the Child’s Health Institute in Cape Town found that eating raw garlic helped fight serious childhood infections. Heat destroys these properties, so eat yours raw, wash it down with fruit juice or, if you’re a sissy, have it in tablet form.

8. Knock one back. A glass of red wine a day is good for you. A number of studies have found this, but a recent one found that the polyphenols (a type of antioxidant) in green tea, red wine and olives may also help protect you against breast cancer. It’s thought that the antioxidants help protect you from environmental carcinogens such as passive tobacco smoke.

9. Bone up daily. Get your daily calcium by popping a tab, chugging milk or eating yoghurt. It’ll keep your bones strong. Remember that your bone density declines after the age of 30. You need at least 200 milligrams daily, which you should combine with magnesium, or it simply won’t be absorbed.

10. Berries for your belly. Blueberries, strawberries and raspberries contain plant nutrients known as anthocyanidins, which are powerful antioxidants. Blueberries rival grapes in concentrations of resveratrol – the antioxidant compound found in red wine that has assumed near mythological proportions. Resveratrol is believed to help protect against heart disease and cancer.

11. Curry favour. Hot, spicy foods containing chillies or cayenne pepper trigger endorphins, the feel-good hormones. Endorphins have a powerful, almost narcotic, effect and make you feel good after exercising. But go easy on the lamb, pork and mutton and the high-fat, creamy dishes served in many Indian restaurants.

12. Cut out herbs before ops. Some herbal supplements – from the popular St John's Wort and ginkgo biloba to garlic, ginger, ginseng and feverfew – can cause increased bleeding during surgery, warn surgeons. It may be wise to stop taking all medication, including herbal supplements, at least two weeks before surgery, and inform your surgeon about your herbal use.

13. I say tomato. Tomato is a superstar in the fruit and veggie pantheon. Tomatoes contain lycopene, a powerful cancer fighter. They’re also rich in vitamin C. The good news is that cooked tomatoes are also nutritious, so use them in pasta, soups and casseroles, as well as in salads.

The British Thoracic Society says that tomatoes and apples can reduce your risk of asthma and chronic lung diseases. Both contain the antioxidant quercetin. To enjoy the benefits, eat five apples a week or a tomato every other day.

14. Eat your stress away. Prevent low blood sugar as it stresses you out. Eat regular and small healthy meals and keep fruit and veggies handy. Herbal teas will also soothe your frazzled nerves.

Eating unrefined carbohydrates, nuts and bananas boosts the formation of serotonin, another feel-good drug. Small amounts of protein containing the amino acid tryptamine can give you a boost when stress tires you out.

15. Load up on vitamin C.We need at least 90 mg of vitamin C per day and the best way to get this is by eating at least five servings of fresh fruit and vegetables every day. So hit the oranges and guavas!

16. No folly in folic acid. Folic acid should be taken regularly by all pregnant mums and people with a low immunity to disease. Folic acid prevents spina bifida in unborn babies and can play a role in cancer prevention. It is found in green leafy vegetables, liver, fruit and bran.

17. A for Away. This vitamin, and beta carotene, help to boost immunity against disease. It also assists in the healing process of diseases such as measles and is recommended by the WHO. Good natural sources of vitamin A are kidneys, liver, dairy products, green and yellow vegetables, pawpaw, mangoes, chilli pepper, red sorrel and red palm oil.

18. Pure water. Don’t have soft drinks or energy drinks while you're exercising. Stay properly hydrated by drinking enough water during your workout (just don't overdo things, as drinking too much water can also be dangerous).

While you might need energy drinks for long-distance running, in shorter exercise sessions in the gym, your body will burn the glucose from the soft drink first, before starting to burn body fat. Same goes for eating sweets.

19. GI, Jane. Carbohydrates with a high glycaemic index, such as bread, sugar, honey and grain-based food will give instant energy and accelerate your metabolism. If you’re trying to burn fat, stick to beans, rice, pasta, lentils, peas, soya beans and oat bran, all of which have a low GI count.

20. Mindful living. You've probably heard the old adage that life's too short to stuff a mushroom. But perhaps you should consider the opposite: that life's simply too short NOT to focus on the simple tasks. By slowing down and concentrating on basic things, you'll clear your mind of everything that worries you.

Really
concentrate on sensations and experiences again: observe the rough texture of a strawberry's skin as you touch it, and taste the sweet-sour juice as you bite into the fruit; when your partner strokes your hand, pay careful attention to the sensation on your skin; and learn to really focus on simple tasks while doing them, whether it's flowering plants or ironing your clothes.
21. The secret of stretching. When you stretch, ease your body into position until you feel the stretch and hold it for about 25 seconds. Breathe deeply to help your body move oxygen-rich blood to those sore muscles. Don't bounce or force yourself into an uncomfortable position.

22. Do your weights workout first. Experts say weight training should be done first, because it's a higher intensity exercise compared to cardio. Your body is better able to handle weight training early in the workout because you're fresh and you have the energy you need to work it.

Conversely, cardiovascular exercise should be the last thing you do at the gym, because it helps your body recover by increasing blood flow to the muscles, and flushing out lactic acid, which builds up in the muscles while you're weight training. It’s the lactic acid that makes your muscles feel stiff and sore.

23. Burn fat during intervals. To improve your fitness quickly and lose weight, harness the joys of interval training. Set the treadmill or step machine on the interval programme, where your speed and workload varies from minute to minute. Build up gradually, every minute and return to the starting speed. Repeat this routine. Not only will it be less monotonous, but you can train for a shorter time and achieve greater results.

24. Your dirtiest foot forward. If your ankles, knees, and hips ache from running on pavement, head for the dirt. Soft trails or graded roads are a lot easier on your joints than the hard stuff. Also, dirt surfaces tend to be uneven, forcing you to slow down a bit and focus on where to put your feet – great for agility and concentration.

25. Burn the boredom, blast the lard. Rev up your metabolism by alternating your speed and intensity during aerobic workouts. Not only should you alternate your routine to prevent burnout or boredom, but to give your body a jolt.

If you normally walk at 6.5km/h on the treadmill or take 15 minutes to walk a km, up the pace by going at 8km/h for a minute or so during your workout. Do this every five minutes or so. Each time you work out, increase your bouts of speed in small increments.

26. Cool off without a beer. Don’t eat carbohydrates for at least an hour after exercise. This will force your body to break down body fat, rather than using the food you ingest. Stick to fruit and fluids during that hour, but avoid beer.

27. ‘Okay, now do 100 of those’. Instead of flailing away at gym, enlist the help – even temporarily – of a personal trainer. Make sure you learn to breathe properly and to do the exercises the right way. You’ll get more of a workout while spending less time at the gym.

28. Stop fuming. Don’t smoke and if you smoke already, do everything in your power to quit. Don’t buy into that my-granny-smoked-and-lived-to-be-90 crud – not even the tobacco giants believe it. Apart from the well-known risks of heart disease and cancer, orthopaedic surgeons have found that smoking accelerates bone density loss and constricts blood flow. So you could live to be a 90-year-old amputee who smells of stale tobacco smoke. Unsexy.

29. Ask about Mad Aunt Edith. Find out your family history. You need to know if there are any inherited diseases prowling your gene pool. According to the Mayo Clinic, USA, finding out what your grandparents died of can provide useful – even lifesaving – information about what’s in store for you. And be candid, not coy: 25% of the children of alcoholics become alcoholics themselves.

30. Do self-checks. Do regular self-examinations of your breasts. Most partners are more than happy to help, not just because breast cancer is the most common cancer among SA women. The best time to examine your breasts is in the week after your period.

31. My smear campaign. Have a pap smear once a year. Not on our list of favourite things, but it’s vital. Cervical cancer kills 200 000 women a year and it’s the most prevalent form of cancer among black women, affecting more than 30 percent.

But the chances of survival are nearly 100 percent if it’s detected early. Be particularly careful if you became sexually active at an early age, have had multiple sex partners or smoke.

32. Understand hormones. Recent research suggests that short-term (less than five years) use of HRT is not associated with an increase in the risk of breast cancer, but that using it for more than ten years might be. Breast cancer is detected earlier in women using HRT, as they are more alert to the disease than other women.

32. Beat the sneezes. There are more than 240 allergens, some rare and others very common. If you’re a sneezer due to pollen: close your car’s windows while driving, rather switch on the internal fan (drawing in air from the outside), and avoid being outdoors between 5am and 10 am when pollen counts are at their highest; stick to holidays in areas with low pollen counts, such as the seaside and stay away from freshly cut grass.

33. Doggone. If you’re allergic to your cat, dog, budgie or pet piglet, stop suffering the ravages of animal dander: Install an air filter in your home.

Keep your pet outside as much as possible and brush him outside of the home to remove loose hair and other allergens. Better yet, ask someone else to do so.

34. Asthma-friendly sports. Swimming is the most asthma-friendly sport of all, but cycling, canoeing, fishing, sailing and walking are also good, according to the experts.

Asthma need not hinder peak performance in sport. 1% of the US Olympic team were asthmatics – and between them they won 41 medals.

35. Deep heat. Sun rays can burn even through thick glass, and under water. Up to 35% of UVB rays and 85% of UVA rays penetrate thick glass, while 50% of UVB rays and 75% of UVA rays penetrate a meter of water and wet cotton clothing.

Which means you’ll need sunscreen while driving your car on holiday, and water resistant block if you’re swimming.

36. Fragrant ageing. Stay away from perfumed or flavoured suntan lotions which smell of coconut oil or orange if you want your skin to stay young. These lotions contain psoralen, which speeds up the ageing process. Rather use a fake-tan lotion. Avoid sun beds, which are as bad as the sun itself.

37. Sunscreen can be a smokescreen. Sunscreen is unlikely to stop you from being sunburned, or to reduce your risk of developing skin cancer. That’s because most people don’t apply it properly, and stay in the sun too long.

The solution? Slather on sunscreen daily and reapply it often, especially if you’ve been in the water. How much? At least enough to fill a shot glass.

38. Laugh and cry. Having a good sob is reputed to be good for you. So is laughter, which has been shown to help heal bodies, as well as broken hearts. Studies in Japan indicate that laughter boosts the immune system and helps the body shake off allergic reactions.

39. It ain’t over till it’s over. End relationships that no longer work for you, as you could be spending time in a dead end. Rather head for more meaningful things. You could be missing opportunities while you’re stuck in a meaningless rut, trying to breathe life into something that is long gone.

40. Strong people go for help. Ask for assistance. Gnashing your teeth in the dark will not get you extra brownie points. It is a sign of strength to ask for assistance and people will respect you for it. If there is a relationship problem, the one who refuses to go for help is usually the one with whom the problem lies to begin with.

41. Save steamy scenes for the bedroom. Showering or bathing in water that’s too hot will dry out your skin and cause it to age prematurely. Warm water is much better.

Apply moisturiser while your skin is still damp – it’ll be absorbed more easily. Adding a little olive oil to your bath with help keep your skin moisturised too.

42. Here’s the rub. Improve your circulation and help your lymph glands to drain by the way you towel off. Helping your lymph glands function can help prevent them becoming infected.

When drying off your limbs and torso, brush towards the groin on your legs and towards the armpits on your upper body. You can do the same during gentle massage with your partner.

43. Sugar-coated. More than three million South Africans suffer from type 2 diabetes, and the incidence is increasing – with new patients getting younger. New studies show this type of diabetes is often part of a metabolic syndrome (X Syndrome), which includes high blood pressure and other risk factors for heart disease.

More than 80% of type 2 diabetics die of heart disease, so make sure you control your glucose levels, and watch your blood pressure and cholesterol counts.

44. Relax, it’s only sex. Stress and sex make bad bedfellows, it seems. A US survey showed that stress, kids and work are main factors to dampen libido. With the advent of technology that allows us to work from home, the lines between our jobs and our personal lives have become blurred.

People work longer hours, commutes are longer and work pervades all aspects of our lives, including our sexual relationships. Put nooky and intimacy on the agenda, just like everything else.

45. Good night, sweetheart. Rest heals the body and has been shown to lessen the risk of heart trouble and psychological problems.

Liposuction: What You Should Know

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that removes fat that you can’t seem to get rid of through diet and exercise.
A plastic or dermatologic surgeon usually does the procedure on your hips, belly, thighs, buttocks, or face to improve their shape. But liposuction can also be done with other plastic surgeries, including facelifts, breast reductions, and tummy tucks.

Am I a Good Candidate?

You’ll want to have realistic expectations. Liposuction won’t get rid of cellulite, so if you hoped you’d come out of surgery without any, you’re out of luck.
Liposuction is a surgical procedure, and with it comes risks. So you need to be in good health before you get it. That means you must at least:
  • Be within 30% of your ideal weight
  • Have firm, elastic skin
  • Not smoke

Doctors don’t recommend the procedure if you have health problems with blood flow or have heart disease, diabetes, or a weak immune system.

What Should I Know Beforehand?

The first step is to consult with your surgeon. Talk about your goals, the options, the risks and benefits, and the costs. Ask all your questions.
If you decide to go ahead with liposuction, your surgeon will give you instructions on how to prepare for it. These may include diet and alcohol restrictions.
Tell your surgeon about any allergies you have and any medications you take, including over-the-counter and herbal supplements. She will likely recommend you stop taking certain meds, such as blood thinners and certain painkillers several weeks before surgery.

What Should I Expect?

Your liposuction may take place at your doctor's office or a surgery center. Make sure that the place where you’re getting it done is accredited, and is known for its professional standards, safety and good results.
  • You’ll go home the day of the procedure. Make sure to have someone drive you home afterward. (If you’re having a lot of fat removed, you should get the surgery done in a hospital, where you might stay overnight).
  • Before your liposuction starts, your doctor might mark the areas of your body that will be treated. She may also take photos to use later for before-and-after comparisons.
  • Next you'll get general anesthesia -- which means you will not be awake during the procedure -- or a “local,” which means you will be awake but not feel any pain.

Types of Liposuction

There are just a few different liposuction techniques. But what they all have in common is the use of a thin tube, called a cannula, connected to a vacuum to suction the fat from your body.
Tumescent liposuction is the most common technique. Your surgeon injects a sterile solution into the area where the fat is to be removed. It consists of saline -- which is salt water - along with lidocaine and epinephrine. The solution makes it easier to suction the fat with less blood loss and pain.
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction, or UAL, uses sound waves energy under your skin to rupture the cell walls of the fat. This liquefies the fat so it can be suctioned out.
Laser-assisted liposuction, or SmartLipo, uses a laser to produce a burst of energy to liquefy the fat.

How Long Is Recovery?

You might not have to stay in the hospital depending on the type of surgery you had. But you should expect bruising, swelling, and soreness for at least a few weeks.
Your surgeon may require you to wear a compression garment for 1 to 2 months after surgery to control swelling.
You’ll probably also have to take some antibiotics to prevent infection. Most people can return to work within a few days and get back to normal activities within 2 weeks. But every person is different.

Ask your plastic surgeon specific questions about what your recovery will be like, including:
  • What medications will I need to take?
  • Will I wear bandages?
  • Will I have stitches, and when will they be removed?
  • When can I exercise again?
  • Do I need to come back for a follow-up visit?

What Are the Risks?

Cosmetic surgery is still surgery, so there are some risks. You can help reduce them by making sure it is done only by a specially trained, board-certified cosmetic surgeon.
There are several possible risks directly related to liposuction that you still have to consider, including:
  • Bleeding
  • Complications from anesthesia
  • Shock (usually from not getting enough fluid during surgery)
  • Fluid accumulation (pockets of fluid forming under the skin)
  • Infections (strep, staph)
  • Fat embolism (when tiny pieces of fat break away and block blood flow)
  • Burns from instruments
  • Uneven fat removal
  • Reactions to lidocaine
  • Change in skin sensation; numbness
  • Damage to nerves, blood vessels, muscles, lungs, and abdominal organs
Another risk is a blood clot in your deep veins. Clots can be very dangerous if they travel to other parts of your body, such as your lungs.

Are the Results Permanent?

The fat cells are removed permanently during liposuction. But you can gain weight back, with new fat cells, which usually go to different areas of your body.
To keep your new shape after surgery, follow a diet that includes lots of lean protein, fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy. And exercise regularly.

Is Liposuction Covered By Health Insurance?

Because liposuction is a cosmetic procedure, most health plans don’t cover it. Talk to your insurance company and your surgeon about the costs and payment options, as well as who pays if you have any complications.

Enlarged Breasts in Men: Causes and Treatments

Some men get enlarged breast tissue. It’s called gynecomastia.
Maybe you've heard people call the condition “man boobs.” It’s usually not anything to worry about. Nor does it have to be permanent. Here’s what you should know.

Causes

It’s normal. Seventy percent of boys get it during puberty. It’s caused by natural changes in estrogen (a "female hormone" that men also have) and testosterone. Newborn babies sometimes have short-term gynecomastia, too. That’s because some of their mothers’ estrogen stays in their blood for a while after birth.
Middle-aged and older men can also have the condition. It could be due to aging (which also shifts hormone levels) or because of certain medicines, including some:
  • Antibiotics
  • Heart medicines
  • Anti-anxiety drugs
  • AIDS treatments
  • Tricyclic antidepressants
  • Chemotherapy
  • Drugs that treat heartburn
Marijuana and drugs like heroin, amphetamines, and steroids can cause it. So can drinking too much alcohol.
Herbal products that contain tea tree oil or lavender oil can also increase breast size. That’s because they have natural estrogen that can upset your body’s normal hormone levels.
Sometimes it happens because of another health problem, like an overactive thyroid, kidney disease, or a tumor on one of the glands that controls your hormones.

Symptoms

Men with gynecomastia have a firm, rubbery mass underneath the nipple area. It’s usually less than an inch and a half across and may be tender. Sometimes there aren’t other symptoms. You may notice some fluid discharge.
It can affect one breast or both.

Diagnosis

The cause of gynecomastia isn’t always clear. So it’s a good idea to check in with your regular doctor or an endocrinologist, a doctor who specializes in hormone imbalances. During your appointment he may ask you:
  • How old were you when you noticed a change in your breast size?
  • Does the condition run in your family?
  • Have you noticed a difference in your nipple size?
  • Have you had any discharge or pain?
  • How's your overall health?
  • Do you drink alcohol, use drugs, or have you had infertility problems?
Your doctor may test your blood or hormones to get more information if a physical exam shows that your breast size is larger than normal, the lump is sore, or your lymph nodes are swollen.
Gynecomastia caused by breast cancer is rare. But if your doctor suspects a tumor, he may send you for a mammogram. Some men also get a biopsy -- a small piece of the lump will be removed, then looked at more closely in a lab.

Treatment

Usually you don't need to be treated. Teenagers' breasts will go back to a more normal shape on their own, often within 2 to 3 years. During that time, ice packs and ibuprofen can lessen any pain.
If a health issue is causing your gynecomastia, treating it will help. And if your breast size has changed because of a medicine you’re taking, you’ll see an improvement once you stop or switch to another drug. (But don’t do so without talking to your doctor first.) It’s also important to give up alcohol and any illegal drugs.
If your condition doesn't go away and you don't like the look of your chest, your doctor may prescribe a medicine that reduces the amount of estrogen your body makes.
Surgery can also restore the shape of your chest and improve your self-image. After making a small cut, a plastic surgeon removes any extra breast tissue. Because your breast will then become smaller and flatter, he may also need to reposition the nipple or areola (the dark area around it). Some guys get liposuction, too. That’s where the doctor suctions out extra fat under the skin.
While surgery is meant to give lasting results, you’ll need to stick to a healthy lifestyle to keep your new shape. Gaining too much weight, using steroids, or taking drugs that affect your testosterone levels can all cause your gynecomastia to come back.
