The four body shapes that hold the key to a woman's weight loss, according to celebrity personal traine

You've eaten too many mince pies, drunk more than enough mulled wine and may have turned your thoughts towards working off the Christmas pounds.

But before signing up for a gym membership, perhaps you should decide which of these body shapes you are.
Because that is the key to successfully achieving your goals, according to celebrity personal trainer Matt Roberts.

Yesterday Mr Roberts, whose clients include David and Samantha Cameron, said women’s bodies fall into four categories – apple, pear, hourglass and tubular.

And as he gave his New Year’s fitness tips, which include swearing off alcohol for at least a month and cutting out all dairy except for milk in tea, Mr Roberts said it was ‘crucial’ to work with your shape.

Hourglass shapes – embodied by Myleene Klass, Kate Winslet or Nigella Lawson – should focus on their abdominals and go for long jogs or bike rides to help make themselves appear leaner.

Tubular women, such as Cara Delevingne or Keira Knightley, are advised to cut out cardiovascular work, avoid losing weight and instead do strength-based work to build muscle.

Pear shapes such as Beyonce and Rihanna, meanwhile, should work on building arm muscle and try out high-intensity interval training such as hill sprints.

And if like Melanie Griffith you are an apple, you can reduce your waistline with core work, long-duration cardio and leg weights to even out your shape.

Mr Roberts suggested visualising how you would like your body to look. ‘Think, what’s the best version of you?’ he said. ‘What do you actually want to look like in a year’s time? And have that as your reference point.’

Pear shapes like Rihanna should work on building arm muscle, while Tubular women like Keira Knightley are advised to cut out cardiovascular work, avoid losing weight and instead do strength-based work to build muscle 

But he added: ‘You need to be realistic about what your shape can become. If you look at Kate Moss and say, “I want to look like her, she looks great”, well she does. But if you’re an hourglass shape you are an hourglass shape so choose the role model for your shape that’s appropriate.’

He added: ‘If you get that right you can aspire to be the person you want to look like.

‘Otherwise it is just never going to happen, even with the best will in the world. You’ve got to tweak around your edges, not someone else’s.’

Mr Roberts went on to give his January weight loss tips, which include giving up alcohol and limiting dairy and sugar intake for a few weeks.

‘There’s three things to do in January that would get you guaranteed results,’ Mr Roberts said. ‘Stop drinking for four weeks because alcohol is a suppressant and it means we need other things to pick us up again.

‘Also reduce your dairy levels down to being just milk in tea but nothing else. And then look at your sugar levels.’

He added: ‘It’s only a small amount of time – spend January and February looking after yourself and you can look great, feel great and build towards looking fantastic in the summer.’

Cindy Crawford Shares Her Eating Habits, Food Philosophy


Fun fact: Cindy Crawford is 48 years old. How does she look so fabulous? We bet her diet plays a part. And lucky for all of us curious folks out there, Cindy is opening up about her daily noshing activities. The best part? Her eating habits sound totally reasonable!

"On a typical weekday, I usually have a protein shake for breakfast because it's fast—I need to get the kids out the door—and then I go right to work out. I find that sometimes if you eat you have to take extra time to let it settle," she explains in a recent piece on Into the Gloss. "And then for lunch, I'll have salad, sometimes with chicken, sometimes without. For dinner, we'll go for sushi. Or if we eat at home, I'll try to make a meal like turkey meatballs with pasta, a salad, and a vegetable. I just don't have the pasta, and the kids don't have the vegetables or the salad [laughs]. I don't like when my meals are completely different from their meals, but that works."

For beverages, Cindy says she mostly sticks to water to avoid hidden liquid calories. "I drink green tea, but I had to stop drinking as much caffeine as I used to," she says. "I had stomach issues, so coffee—especially on an empty stomach—doesn't really agree with me. Tequila, though, kills all the bugs. My husband enjoys having a cocktail, so I can't make him drink alone."

We love how Cindy doesn't take an all-or-nothing approach to healthy eating: "Diet-wise, I don't eat crap, and I don't eat a lot of packaged foods," she says. "I could easily be vegetarian, but it's not practical with my family. I try to be 80 percent good 80 percent of the time."

Making four out of five of your meals mostly healthy sounds pretty doable, even for non-supermodels. Considering giving Cindy's philosophy a shot?

How to Get Salon-like Curls at Home

These days, no one really sticks to the type of hair they are born with. Straight, wavy or curly, you name it and you can get it.

If you love curly hair, but are not naturally blessed with those luscious curls, all you can do is take help of your beautician, right? Wrong! Instead of going for expensive and harmful treatments that involve heat and chemicals, you can now have your favorite curls at home!

Without investing in any styling equipment, you can get your favourite kind of curls to match with your look. Be it breezy waves or eccentric noodle hair, you can have it all. We have five easy ways to get the curly hair of your dreams.


Paper bag curls
To get the basic wavy curls, you need not treat them with any heat. All you have to use is a paper bag! Wash your hair, condition it and let it dry naturally. Now make thin sections of your hair and spread swipes of mousse evenly in the sections. Then take a huge sheet of paper and cut long strips of it. Wrap the sections of your hair with it in an inward direction. After carefully folding all the sections, tie all the edges in a bun. Soon the paper strips will effectively soak the wetness, drying your hair and giving you a perfect beach wave. Watch the video below to get a clear idea of how this is done.


Crimped curls
If you are a fan of Kangana's crimped up curls, all you have to do to get them is ditch the harsh crimping machine to begin with. Wet your hair and make a perfect French braid. Now allow your hair to dry and then undo the braid. Loosen your hair with some serum on your fingers. Do this right before you go to bed and get naturally crimpy hair in the morning.


Beautiful beach waves
As we know that salt water creates a gorgeous, carefree and tousled look for the hair. But you need not go to the beach every time to get that wavy look! You can do so in the comfort of your home. Just take a spray bottle and fill it with warm water, two tablespoons of salt and 1/4th cup of conditioner. Shake well and spray this mixture over clean and dry hair. Be prepared to be pleasantly surprised!


Soft rolled curls
To get the voluminous looking soft curls, wash your hair thoroughly, and comb away all the tangles while they dry. Apply a styling mousse from roots to the ends. Then divide the hair into 4-5 sections and neatly roll them in simple plastic hair rollers. Make sure that the ends of your hair are laying flat on the rollers. Once all sections of your hair are covered, put on a shower cap to secure the hair neatly. Leave it on for 6-7 hours or overnight. Then unroll the rollers one at a time. Loosen the hair with your fingers and brush gently to get soft curls.


Sleek curls
To get the neatly slicked back curls, wash your hair thoroughly and let it dry. Apply a good amount of mousse on to it. Now take a thin comb to divide your hair into many sections. Twist each section as much as you can and hold it by tying a rubber band at the end. Secure all ends with bobby pins. Now blow dry your hair. Remove the rubber bands and pins when the hair dries completely. You will be surprised at the results.

Some people try to follow these type of diets, but the problem with these diets is that they have known and unknown long term dangers for your overall health: They mostly cause nutrient deficiencies in your body, and potentially cause your body to store more fat than usual. Besides the factor of high prices, they will affect your metabolism in a terrible way. Famous celebrities such as Jennifer Hudson, Christian bale, Nicole Richie, Mila Kunis, and Renée Zellwege have been forced to lose or gain a lot of weight for Oscar winning movie roles.

If your plan is a long-term weight loss, this diet doesn’t work for you, because all you are losing is water weight and your body is not getting enough essential nutrients.

Baby food diet:
In this diet you’re allowed to eat puree baby food for 14 days. This is a low calorie intake diet of about 600 calories a day. Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston follow this one. It is bad for your body and health because you are not getting enough calories, therefore you will be moody, tired and weak.

Cabbage soup diet:
The diet is all you can eat cabbage soup. The weight loss results are fast and dramatic but they are associated with elevated sugar cravings, fatigue due to the low calorie intake and mood swings. It also creates a lot of stomach problems and it’s told to produce a lot of flatulence.

Seaweed diet:
Victoria Beckham follows this diet, based on eating only soybeans, strawberries and lettuce, plus two daily pints of algae as well as a seaweed shake. Many nutritionists believe that in this diet your body is not getting enough nutrients for proper functioning.

The cookie diet:
This diet consists on eating two special low-glycemic cookies each for your breakfast and lunch, and a super light dinner. This diet is very expensive, since each week you spend close to $60 in cookies. Also you are not eating anything else that gives you natural energy or fiber. Kim Kardashian and Snooki have done this one before.

No carbs diet:
Although many celebrities have lost a lot of weight by eliminating carbohydrates, cutting out carbs completely isn’t necessarily the best or the safest way to lose weight, since once you return to a normal diet you will gain all that weight back. Also some carbs are fuel and energy for your body and are essential parts of a healthy diet.

The purple diet:
Mariah Carey’s famous diet consists on eating only purple food for 3 days a week.
