Many people think that their health will deteriorate after donating blood. This is absolutely incorrect. Donating blood has many health benefits instead of hazards.

It stops excess iron from accumulating in the blood and reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Blood donation is a painful procedure-
It is a common myth across the globe that stops many from donating blood. Blood donation procedure does involve a needle but the pain is minimal.

People with high blood pressure cannot donate blood-
People often think that high blood pressure makes them unfit to donate blood. Simply untrue. As long as the blood pressure is below 180 systolic and 100 diastolic you can donate blood. Medicines that you take for blood pressure do not disqualify you from donating blood.

A day’s rest is required after blood donation-
You may be surprised to know that you can resume with your daily routine right after donating blood. You should make sure to replenish your fluids with water and juices. Avoid direct sunlight and alcohol for 24 hours.

People with seasonal allergies cant give blood-
It is a myth that people with seasonal allergies cannot donate blood.

I will become blood deficient after donating it-
Its a common fear that prevails regarding blood donation. Blood donation does not leave you with deficiency. Blood levels return to normal within 48 hours.

Blood donation does not lead to weakness. 

Blood donation takes lot of time-
People often think that blood donation is a very long and time consuming process. This is absolutely incorrect. It varies from place to place, available chairs, etc., but you should be done in less than an hour.
