How to Reduce Face Fat

Feel like your face is too round or bloated? Here are a few basic steps that will help you lose some of that face fat fast! If you follow these steps, you'll notice a slimmer face and you'll finally be rid of that double chin you've had for years.

Method 1 of 3: Adjust Your Diet

    Drink plenty of water. Besides keeping you hydrated, drinking lots of water regularly will help flush toxins from your body and leave you feeling healthier and happier. Dehydration can cause the face to get bloated, so staying hydrated will keep your face looking trimmer.
    • Try to drink at least 64 ounces of water per day.
    • Drinking water can also help curb your appetite and keep you from snacking.

    Reduce your fat intake. Build a diet around healthy options, and try to reduce your consumption of fat as much as possible. Cook your own meals more often than you eat out to control what you are consuming.

    • Avoid eating just before bed.
    • Cut back on your sodium consumption as well. Excess salt can retain water and leave your face puffy. Too much salt is also bad for your general health.

    Begin an exercise routine. You cannot specifically target your face when trying to lose weight. Instead, you need to focus on losing weight in general, and your face will naturally become slimmer.

    • Start slowly and increase the intensity of your workouts as your body adjusts to the routine.

    • A smiling exercise can help tighten your cheeks. Smile and clench your teeth for a few seconds. Try to avoid squinting your eyes. Pucker your lips then repeat the exercise.

    • Do a cheek puff exercise. Take a deep breath and puff the air into your cheeks. Hold the air there for 5 seconds. Press the air into your right cheek for 5 more seconds, then in your left. Release and repeat.

    Get enough sleep. You should be getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Any less and your face may get bloated from fatigue. Sagging muscles also cause the face to look larger than normal.

Method 3 of 3: Change Your Look

    Apply makeup. Use a slightly darker powder under your chin and on your lower cheeks. This will help make your face look slimmer.
    • Go for subtle changes, too much makeup can leave your face looking fake.

    Change your hairstyle. The wrong hairstyle can make a round face look even rounder. Talk to your hairstylist about a style that will slim your face, and draw attention away from your cheeks and chin.
